 A prolific writer with an
extraordinary creative skill,
Mr. Kushal Kumar has written
intelligent and beautifully
crafted stories, profoundly
human and compulsively readable.
He touched several issues that
others ignored or feared to
raise and provoked intellectual
discussions. In an exceptionally
successful literary career
spanning less then half a
century, Kushal Kumar has
authored many stories. His
writings essentially centered on
the challenges that the
expanding urban middle class
confronted when the country was
just pushed into development
mode. He is presently working as

quarterly Magazine being
published from Mumbai with Mr.
Anup Sethi.
Kumar was born in 30/10/1961 in
Mumbai (Maharashtra) in a middle
class Himachali family belongs
to village Lahat, Teh
jaisinghpur, Dist. Kangra. He
began writing stories before he
turned 20. The stories revealed
his skill to write on any
subject powerfully, with
aesthetic sense and
responsibility. Kushal’s
writings written with remarkable
ease, are well received by a
larger audience. They found it
hard to believe that Pahari
language and culture in which
they brought in Mumbai two
thousand kilometer away from
Himachal is going to be ceased.
